HANS IM GLÜCK (BOCHUM)
So it turns out this is a chain place that is in Germany and offers a range of vegan options. We ordered this in on my last night with Basti and Romina in Bochum. We ordered and then played some card games while we waited for our food to arrive. The burger was pretty good. As you can see I opted to grab a knife and fork for myself.
We also ordered chips for us all to share, which were about as good as you hot chips delivered ever are. I also had a piece of the corn on the cob, which was amazing. It’s coated in some herbs and bits and it’s tasty! I would choose to order and eat at this place again, and it is handy that it’s a chain so it’s available around the country.
GREEN TABLE (HAMBURG)
After arriving in Hamburg I spotted this place when I went out to check out the Christmas Markets. The staff were lovely and it’s a really nice clean restaurant. The food was delicious. It was so nice and warm and well flavoured. This was such a pleasure to eat. It definitely satisfied my tastebuds and my stomach.
There were quite a few things on the menu that I was choosing between so if I was in Hamburg again I would certainly return.
AVOCADA NERDS (HAMBURG)
This place was quite near where I was staying and I had flagged it the day before as somewhere to come eat. They have a choose between a Burrito, Quesadilla, or a Bowl, type of thing and then select your filling with sauce and extras. I went expecting I would eat lots of avocado and then I went with a tofu burrito. It was really good though. I did want to come back to eat again but their opening hours just didn’t end up matching my schedule. I wanted some avo… Next time. I did have a coffee as well while I was here and that was alright too.
VEGANSTER (ROSTOCK)
This is a super cute little place that has about 4 tables inside. I managed to score myself a spot and I decided to go for the house burger. The staff were really nice, spoke english, and the food was great. The burger was really tasty and the patty was delicious. So moist and good. The menu was written in German on a blackboard on the wall, so I really just had a quick look and went with the first thing I could just read and make sense of easily. It was a good first choice I thought and based off it, I would be back here too.
GLÜCKSIND (ROSTOCK)
I popped in here on my way back to my hotel late one afternoon, evening. They were going to close in the next hour and it was already getting dark outside. The staff were lovely and it’s a really cute place. There are a few seats in the front but then there is another back room that also has seating. I decided to go for their smashed avo and wasn’t disappointed when out came a toasty. This was so good and just what I needed. It’s amazing how satisfying nice warm pieces of bread with avo can be after walking around in freezing temperatures.
There was also a cake display at the counter and the food was quite nice so I grabbed something that looked good to take away with me. I ended up having it for breakfast the next day and it was pretty good. The guy did tell me it was best heated up but I didn’t have a microwave in my hotel room. As it was it was pretty good, it was a bit like a scone type thing. I didn’t take any photos of it.
KÜCHE DES FRIEDENS (ROSTOCK)
I wound up my quick Rostock visit by making sure to get to eat at all of the vegan joints in town. This joint is quite small, similar to Veganster, they focus on take away a lot more too I think. The decor in this place is lovely, it’s so cosy and welcoming. The staff are lovely and super helpful. I loved this burger and the chips were amazing. I strongly recommend trying the basil mayo. That was incredible. I want that with chips more than the once I have had it.
VEGANAM (KIEL)
So I spotted this place when I firstly arrived in Kiel and went for a walk with Malte. We ended up coming to check it out the next night and I am glad we did. We shared some starters and also got a meal each. It was very nice and a decent price. It had great flavours and was just really fresh ingredients. The staff were very friendly and hospitable, considering we pretty much snuck in just before closing.
CAFE ERDAPFEL (LÜBECK)
Apparently it’s become a bit of a tradition for Malte and Deike to visit this place when they come to Lübeck. So I am kind of glad we didn’t just find chips easily otherwise we might not have come here. This place does a range of different baked spuds. There are so many choices of toppings and they have options that are vegan. I ended up going with the nacho option, because how have I never thought about combining nachos and baked potato before. Genius! This was also such a good meal to have after walking around in the cold.
