On Thursday morning I went down to see the hotel woman and find out what the mugwort thing she was making me was. Turns out it was Qingtuan. A green rice ball made with mugwort juice and filled with crushed nuts and sweet red bean paste. It was really nice. She had made me two of them, I sat to eat it to show I was grateful and also have a coffee in the main foyer, before I headed back to my room to finish packing. I decided not to eat the second one there and then, cos I really liked it and thought it would make a good snack on my 7.5hr train ride. Which it did.

While I was downstairs I also ended up helping out a Russian family trying to figure out where to get the DiDi. The wife in that couple was a highly anxious one, you could just feel the stress energy coming off of her. So I instead just showed her husband and got him to organise it. The hotel staff here were so nice, trying to help them and then once booked, wheeled their cases out to the meeting spot with them and gave them bottles of water. I went back upstairs until it was my time for a send off.

I was gifted a box of some taro sweets (which are vegan) – it’s amazing the amount of vegan things that start popping up once a Chines person knows your diateries. I wish I had of asked her name, but I will make sure I get it when I am next back. You know sometimes you just click with someone and there is a bond, I feel that we both really enjoyed meeting each other. She has a very nice energy about her. She walked me to my DiDi, and sent me off, and then we were texting after I had left still saying how nice and fateful our meeting was. I got a little bit teary on my way to the station.

I got to the station with plenty of time. My 90minute ride cost me about $40AUD. Easiest way to do it with my suitcase and everything. I ended up with about 2 hours before my train and then got to sit on that for a while. I finished reading Britney Spears book, The woman in me. This also had me teary by then end. I was obviously having an emotional day.

It was 22:40 by the time I got to my hotel for the night. I had been considering getting up early to do the longest cable car ride on the planet (30 mins) – I’ve done the shortest funicular in Croatia so that would of been good balance. Except I decided that just taking a chill restful morning and day would be more beneficial as I know the next few days are getting busy! I got some more work done instead and then got a DiDi again to my next destination, Wulingyuan Town. I had booked myself here a room for 3 nights so that I was walking distance to the East Entrance for Zhangjajie National Park.

I checked in, settled in, did a bit more work and then went for a walk and found some food. After an early dinner I headed back to get an early night, ready for Zhangjiajie National Park….
